Terms of Service
Clip Services — local service marketplace, Salford Quays, Manchester, United Kingdom. Effective March 2026.
1. Agreement and acceptance
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Clip Services (the “Platform”), whether as a customer seeking services or as an independent service provider offering services through the Platform. By using the Platform, creating an account, or booking or listing a service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will indicate the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires a different process.
2. Nature of Clip Services
Clip Services is a marketplace platform only. It is not an employer of providers and is not itself a provider of the services listed on the Platform. Clip Services does not perform cleaning, repairs, deliveries, personal assistance, or any other booked service; it provides technology and administration to facilitate introductions and bookings between users.
The Platform connects customers with independent service providers who operate on their own account. Any contract for the performance of work is between the customer and the provider, subject to these Terms and any booking-specific terms communicated through the Platform. Clip Services may assist with payment collection and dispute handling as described below, but it is not a party to the underlying service contract except as expressly stated.
3. Fees and pricing
Providers set their own stated rates for services. The Platform charges a 15% platform fee calculated on top of the provider’s stated rate. The total price shown or communicated for a booking includes this fee unless we clearly state otherwise at checkout or in writing.
All amounts are in pounds sterling (GBP) unless stated otherwise. Tax treatment may depend on the nature of the service and the status of the parties; providers are responsible for their own tax compliance.
4. Payment terms
Unless we agree otherwise in writing, full payment is required before the service begins. Accepted methods include bank transfer and payment link (or other methods we specify on the Platform). We may withhold release of funds or confirm the booking only after cleared payment, as our processes require.
Failure to pay on time may result in cancellation of the booking or suspension of access to the Platform, without prejudice to any other remedies.
5. Cancellations and refunds
Unless a different policy is stated for a specific listing or promotion, the following applies:
- More than 24 hours before the scheduled start: full refund of amounts paid for that booking, minus a £2 administration fee.
- Less than 24 hours before the scheduled start: 50% refund of amounts paid for that booking.
- After the provider has arrived at the agreed location (or the service has commenced, if earlier): no refund, except where these Terms, applicable law, or a decision under our dispute process requires otherwise.
- Provider no-show: where the provider fails to attend without reasonable notice or excuse as we reasonably determine, the customer is entitled to a full refund of amounts paid for that booking.
Refunds will be processed using the original payment method where practicable. Administration fees and partial refunds reflect costs and opportunity loss; we may vary this section for future bookings by updating these Terms.
6. Provider obligations and status
Providers using the Platform are independent and self-employed (or, where applicable, engaged through their own company). Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, partnership, or agency relationship between Clip Services and any provider, or between Clip Services and any customer.
- Providers set their own rates and may accept or decline job requests, subject to any commitments they have already accepted.
- For in-home or on-premises services, providers must maintain appropriate insurance (such as public liability and, where relevant, professional indemnity) at their own expense and must produce evidence when reasonably requested.
- For in-home services, a valid DBS check (or equivalent disclosure satisfactory to us) is required. We may refuse or remove listings where this is not met.
- Conduct and enforcement: serious or repeated breaches of these Terms, customer complaints, or behaviour that harms the Platform or users may result in warnings, suspension, or removal. We operate a three-strike policy: after three substantiated strikes (for example, verified no-shows, safety issues, or repeated policy breaches), we may permanently remove the provider from the Platform. Strikes and appeals are determined at our reasonable discretion, and we are not obliged to reinstate any account.
7. Disputes between users
If a dispute arises between a customer and a provider regarding a booking, you should first attempt to resolve it directly in good faith. Where that is not successful, you may contact us at the email below.
Sonia Otikpa (or a nominated representative) will seek to mediate the dispute by reviewing the booking details, communications, and any evidence supplied. Following review, Clip Services may, at its sole discretion, propose or implement a resolution including partial or full refund, credit, or other commercially reasonable outcome. Our decision is not binding arbitration unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, but we expect users to cooperate honestly with the process.
Nothing in this section prevents either party from pursuing rights under applicable law, including in the courts of England and Wales where jurisdiction applies.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- Clip Services is not liable for the acts or omissions of providers or customers, including negligence, misconduct, or failure to perform the booked service.
- We are not liable for loss or damage to property, personal injury, or consequential or indirect losses arising from services arranged through the Platform, except where such exclusion is prohibited by law.
- We do not guarantee the quality, timeliness, or fitness of any service. Our role is to facilitate connection, booking, and payment where applicable, and to assist with dispute resolution as described in these Terms.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Where we are liable despite the above, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Platform and these Terms in any twelve-month period shall not exceed the platform fees actually retained by Clip Services from your transactions in that period, or £100, whichever is greater, except where the law requires otherwise.
9. Platform rules
Users must comply with the following rules. Breach may result in suspension or termination of access.
- No circumvention on first booking: You must not exchange direct contact details or arrange off-platform payment or repeat bookings outside the Platform for the purpose of bypassing Clip Services on a first booking between the same customer and provider. We may monitor patterns consistent with circumvention and take appropriate action. Ongoing relationships may be addressed in supplementary policies we publish.
- No harassment, abuse, or discrimination toward other users, staff, or the public in connection with use of the Platform.
- No illegal services or unlawful use of the Platform. Listings and requests must comply with the law of England and Wales and local requirements.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Platform shall be governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you may have as a consumer under the law of your country of residence.
11. Operator and contact
Clip Services is operated by Sonia Otikpa, trading from Clippers Quays, Salford M50, United Kingdom.
